We’ve just crossed the 300 Things mark. Hurray! After a festive lull it looks like ICBI will be heading into the new year doing rather well.

Let there be colour
After taking some advice from Reddit, the site’s been given its first proper bit of colour. The neutral blue aims to give a calm feeling to what should hopefully be a mildly therapeutic browsing experience.
Things will probably keep changing for the next forever as I am not one to be happy with a website’s design. Hopefully the changes will be improvements.

Things with spaces in the name have good URLs now
For example; this-website.IsCrapBecause.It
Spaces in names now take the form of hyphens in URLs. If a Thing has a funny character (like an apostrophe) in its name then it still has a crappy URL that looks like this; IsCrapBecause.It/?p=y&thing=9%2F11.
Also, stuff can be deleted and banned now, which is always handy.

Why we need an API is something a few people have asked. So here’s a quick reasoning. Besides me wanting to make something that has an API, this will form the basis for a number of ICBI’s future plans. Anything other than the website that we want to use our data (Facebook...
An API is born

The API will be able to return either a variety of different data in either XML or JSON formats. At the moment it defaults to displaying one random Thing and Reason in XML. But that’s not important. What is important is that it works.
People are not Things
IsCrapBecause.It deals with Things and Reasons. As such, we will be blocking submissions stating that people are crap*. This is for two, obvious reasons;
We do not want to get sued. Whilst the free publicity would be nice, we are poor.
You shouldn’t describe a person as an “it”. We are nothing if not grammar Nazis at heart.

Subdomain urls now work
If the thing that is crap is only one word long, you can now find it by going to thing.iscrapbecause.it. For example;
