[Press Release] There are 1,000 crap things
Manchester, UK – April 15, 2010 – A website storing reasons why things are crap has received more than 1,000 unique submissions along with more than 2,100 reasons why the submissions are crap. The milestone for IsCrapBecause. It (http://iscrapbecause.it) comes after only a few months of the site’s existence and a marketing budget of zero.
The website’s creator, John Kershaw, said he was thrilled with the achievement; “I honestly wasn’t expecting people to gravitate towards the site like they have. The fact we have over a thousand distinct things submitted by many hundreds of people after only four months of existing is fantastic.”
After the site received some comments relating to how it publishes anonymous criticisms, Kershaw said “there’s nothing stopping you doing this on any other site, like Twitter. You can sign up under any name you like and say all manner of things. On IsCrapBecauseIt people have a purpose, and the ratio of idiot comment to sensible, smart comments is surprisingly high. We also have an advanced monitoring and reporting system. By allowing people the freedom to have no name, you can get some very personal insights.”
Some statistics about the site: * The highest voted reason why something is crap is “Twilight is crap because it isn’t bacon”. * “Twilight” also has the most reasons given as to why it is crap (found here; http://twilight.iscrapbecause.it/ ). * More than 11,000 votes have been cast on the website, either agreeing or disagreeing with the reasons people have posted. * The “Random” page, which displays a random thing and reason why it’s crap, is the most visited page on the site. * More than 800 people have submitted either a new thing, or a new reason to the database.
